Many in our community have been ill or had the flu in the past few weeks. The most important thing is to keep your kids home 24 hours after their fever is gone. Please help protect our students and staff and remind students to wash hands and practice safe hygiene. Stay safe and healthy! Go Aggies!!!

Tomorrow morning Jeff Olson will be presenting to 6th-12th grade students about depression, anxiety, suicide hope, resilience, and finding the help that we need during an assembly titled ‘Do it for Daniel’. Jeff has spent 2 years traveling the Midwest speaking to schools about these important and heavy topics. Students have been advised for the past week to see the Counselor before or after the presentation tomorrow or any time this week if they are experiencing strong emotions related to these subjects. We are excited to have Jeff here with us and share his personal story and wisdom! High School assembly will be during 2nd hour, middle school during 3rd hour.

Starting November 25th, we will be doing the “Why You Matter Project” with a lesson plan and writing prompt asking students to reflect on “Why They Matter”. We are very excited to implement this project! We will be taking photographs of every student displaying their “Why I matter statement”, unless parents decide to opt the student out. If you would like to opt your student out, please contact the counseling office between November 18th and November 22nd. Thank you.

Veteran's Day
This week Mrs. Strang was at Ruth McGregor Elementary presenting OK2Say. OK2Say is a Student Safety Program from the Attorney General. Each class was taught the “3 Keeps” of internet safety. They are the following: • I keep safe my personal information. • I keep away from internet strangers. • I keep telling a trusted adult about anything that makes me feel uncomfortable. She also covered the difference between mean/rude behavior and bullying. Remember bullying is an unkind act or words that are done over and over again after being asked to stop. Bullying can also be done online which is called Cyber Bullying. Older students were encouraged to download the free ReThink app onto their cellphones or tablets. This app recognizes unkind things that a child might text to someone and a message will occur that will ask the student if they really do want to send the message. Research has showed that 90% of students will choose not to send the unkind message when they were asked if they really wanted to send. The last part of Mrs. Strang’s presentation for older students was sharing the OK2Say app. This was created to encourage students to report threatening behavior before it occurs. This tool empowers students to share and respond to student safety threats. If you have any further questions visit ok2say.com.
