Sand Creek Community Schools is looking for qualified candidates to fulfill the following positions: 6-8 English Teacher, Elementary Teacher, 6-12 Assistant Principal, K-5 Student Success Director and Part-time Custodian. Please visit our website for full listings of each position.
From the Superintendent
As it pertains to Sand Creek’s traditional school sponsored events, such as Prom and Senior Trip, Sand Creek Community Schools is currently unable to sponsor them due to the current MDHHS COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions and the potential legal ramifications of not adhering to them.
So as it stands today, Sand Creek Community Schools cannot sponsor a high school prom or senior trip. If the MDHHS guidance changes to the point where the school can safely sponsor events like this, the school will do its best to do so.
While the school wishes they could shed more hope on traditional school events such as a high school prom, they certainly don’t want to mislead anyone. We will continue to hope and pray that that the MDHHS COVID-19 guidelines and requirements for schools will loosen in time for us to be able to offer a high school prom and a senior day trip to Cedar Point or a similar venue. We know how much our upper classmen, especially our seniors, are hurting right now as it relates to the postponement and cancellation of traditional school events.
Respectfully, Steve Laundra, Superintendent/HS Principal

This week Miss Barr and Miss Norton’s Kindergarten students were authors and illustrators creating an “All About Me” Book. They clicked and dragged pictures to be an illustrator and found letters on the keyboard to type and be an author. They learned how to hold down the shift key to make letters uppercase and to use the space bar to put a space between words.

Luke Meckley and Abbagail Bauer, each only 10-years-old, set their sights on reading the entire Harry Potter series this year. They started in November, and finished up all 7 books this week, passing their tests with flying colors! Their teacher, Ms. Papenhagen, loaned Luke each of the books from her son's personal library, and Abbagail was lucky enough to have brand new copies from her mom. Their teacher reports that these two bookworms have inspired others in the class to begin reading this series. Way to go, kiddos!
Mrs. Hella’s class is conducting an investigation about friction. The question they are trying to answer is: How much force does it take to move the block of wood over the different surfaces? They are testing wood, sand paper, wax paper, and rubber bands. They have found out, that rubber bands have the most friction. On average it took 50 washers to move the block of wood with rubber bands.
