- High School fall sports begins on Monday, August 7th
- Sand Creek Schools Bond Issue Proposal Information Night will be held Tuesday, August 8th at 7 p.m. in the Don Harlan library
- Registration packets are available for pick-up from the school office starting Monday, August 7th. Upon return and completion of the packets, students will receive schedules and teacher assignments.
- High School Band Camp - August 7th-9th and 14th-15th: 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.
- Special Board Meeting - Monday, August 14th at 6 p.m.
- 6th Grade Orientation and Open House - Tuesday, August 15th (see separate post for details)
- Open Houses - Wednesday, August 16th

*Sand Creek Jr/Sr High School: 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

VACANT SEAT ON THE SAND CREEK BOARD OF EDUCATION
Effective September 1, 2023
Pursuant to section 311 of Michigan’s Election Law, MCL 168.311(1), the Sand Creek Community Schools Board of Education is accepting written notice from qualified, interested and registered electors of Sand Creek Community Schools wishing to be appointed to serve on the Sand Creek Community Schools Board of Education.
Written notice and required materials must be submitted no later than 3:00 p.m. (EST) on Friday, August 11, 2023, to the Sand Creek Board of Education, Attn: Sharon Smith, Superintendent, 6518 Sand Creek Hwy. Sand Creek, Michigan 49279, or via email to sharon.smith@sc-aggies.us.
Applicants must submit the following materials to be considered for appointment:
• Written letter of interest submitted to the Superintendent by the deadline (see above).
• A few lines of introduction, a brief bio, and motivation for applying for the open board seat should be included in the letter.
• Proof that the applicant is a current registered voter in the Sand Creek Community Schools district.
• The board may request interested applicants to attend a special board meeting on Monday, August 14th.
The Sand Creek Board of Education will review applicant materials received and reserves the right to interview select candidates to ascertain their qualifications. Appointment by the board to fill this vacancy shall be made by a majority vote of the full board on August 21, 2023 with the effective date of the appointment on September 1, 2023.
The individual appointed by the Sand Creek Board of Education to fill the vacancy on the Sand Creek Schools Board of Education shall file an acceptance of office and hold office only until a successor is elected at the next general November election in the manner provided by law. The term would end December 31, 2024.
If the vacancy is not filled within thirty (30) days after it occurs, the Board of the Intermediate School District shall fill the vacancy by appointment.

Back to School Open Houses are quickly approaching!
The 2023/2024 school year kicks-off at Sand Creek Schools with the Back-to-School Open House on Wednesday, August 16th. This will be a great chance for students and parents to meet teachers, find classrooms and lockers, and greet classmates and staff.
• Ruth McGregor Elementary School Open House: August 16th, 4-6 p.m.
• Sand Creek Jr./Sr. High School Open House: August 16th, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
• A separate 6th grade Open House and Orientation will be held on Tuesday, August 15th, 6-7:30 p.m.
The first day of school is Monday, August 21st, which is a half-day. The Sand Creek Jr./Sr. High School will dismiss at 11:30 p.m. and Ruth McGregor Elementary School will dismiss at 11:45 a.m.
The full district calendar, as well as both building calendars, are currently being worked on but can be found on the district website as soon as they are ready.

The Aggie Ambassadors facilitated an elementary wide drive, class vs. class. During the month of April, students were asked to bring in items that would benefit the animals at the Lenawee County Humane Society. Elementary Counselor Keshia Maybee dropped those items off at Humane Society this week.
We are so proud of our Young Aggies who strive to help the community!
