This is Sharon Smith calling with an important announcement regarding a calendar change for our elementary building only. This Friday, December 10th, will be a half-day of school for all Ruth McGregor Elementary students. Elementary students will be dismissed at 11:45 a.m. A letter was sent home with each elementary student on Tuesday with the sad news that we lost a very special little Aggie this past Sunday. Funeral services for this special elementary 3rd grader will be held on Friday afternoon. In order to allow any elementary employee or student who desires to attend these services and surround this family with love and support during this very difficult time, we are making Friday a half-day of school for all elementary students. For elementary students who order lunch on Friday, the cold lunch option will be sent home with them. Friday will be a normal full-day of school for the 6-12 building. Thank you, and Go Aggies.

Sand Creek Student Government was able to secure a grant (courtesy of the Lenawee Community Foundation) for a Basic Needs Pantry. The Jr/Sr High Counseling Department has started to build the ‘pantry’ with gently used clothing items and have purchased other generic items. Clothes and other smaller items are available such as shoes, hygiene products, socks/ underwear, etc. for students to choose from when requested. If your son/daughter or member of your family needs items please feel free to fill out the form following the link. This will be kept completely confidential and will be monitored by the school counselor. This link is also available on the Counseling page and on 6-12 ELA teachers google classroom. Your child will be given these items privately and discreetly. While this grant was secured by the high school student government, please feel free to fill out the form if you have an elementary student and the school counselor will get the items to the elementary. If you have questions or concerns please contact Rachel Myers (Student Government Advisor) rachel.myers@sc-aggies.us or Abby Slusher (School Counselor) Abigail.Slusher@sc-aggies.us. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdm_d827nik36vUZS4qzuSJt9xShLqI3w8Q1TXKqTJvMiMLVA/viewform?usp=sf_link

This morning an adult male, who appeared to be intoxicated, stopped at both our Elementary and our Jr./Sr. High School buildings separately, requesting access to walk through the buildings. He was not allowed to do this and was asked to leave and has not been back. We contacted the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Department to report the incident. At no time were our students in danger and all is well. We will contact the Sheriff’s Department if he should return. As a reminder, all building doors are kept locked throughout the day and anyone wanting access to either building must be buzzed in by office staff. Both offices are aware of this incident.
